In 2013, the Zonta Club of Fort Worth was proud to honor Mayor Betsy Price as its  Professional Woman of the Year.

A Fort Worth native, Betsy graduated from Arlington Heights High School, and then earned a science degree in biology at the University of Texas in Arlington. She was owner of Price Cornelius Title Service for 17 years.

In 2000, she won the election for Tarrant County Tax Assessor, where she quickly made her department one of the most efficient in Texas, saving taxpayers millions of dollars, and helped the Tax Assessor’s office win national and statewide awards for efficiency, innovation and performance.

“Owning a business taught me to keep looking for better, more efficient ways to get things done,” she says. “I brought that business experience with me when I was sworn in the first time.”

was elected as the 44th Mayor of the City of Fort Worth on June 18, 2011.
Mayor Price has been focused on fiscal responsibility, creating a stronger economy through public/private partnership, and strengthening our neighborhoods through her faith-based and citywide health engagement initiatives that are set to launch this spring.

The Mayor is also a major supporter of young adults becoming engaged in Fort Worth, and, to that end, has launched SteerFW, a group of more than 300 young citizens charged with learning about the biggest issues facing Cowtown and with finding solutions to those issues.
