Zonta International
Zonta International (ZI) was established in 1919 by a group of women in Buffalo, New York. Since then, it has spread to around 33,000 members in 65 countries, headquartered in Chicago, IL.
Local clubs are grouped into Areas, and Areas are grouped into Districts. Zonta Fort Worth is part of Area 1, which includes 10 clubs in the Metroplex and the surrounding geographic area from Oklahoma City on the North, Mineral Wells on the West, Granbury on the South and Longview on the East. Three Areas located in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mexico are grouped into District 10. Area and District Boards support and assist the local clubs.
Zonta International (ZI) is made up of all the Districts worldwide. International projects are carried out using service funds raised by the local clubs, who then donate a portion to ZI. Partnering with the United Nations, ZI carries out projects in developing and third-world countries designed to meet the health, legal, political, educational and economic needs of women.
